Welcome to Tayseer AI. We are an Arabic language learning application that uses artificial intelligence to help you master Modern Standard Arabic. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile app and website.
By using Tayseer AI, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our educational services:
2.1 Contact Information
Name and Email Address: We collect your name and email when you create an account. This is used for authentication, personalization, and communication about your learning progress. A unique account identifier (user ID) is created for you and used to link your learning data to your account. You may optionally provide your age in your profile; it is used only to tailor content.
2.2 User Content
Learning Content: Your vocabulary cards, lesson history, conversation practice sessions, and learning progress are stored to personalize your experience and track your advancement.
Photos and Camera Images: When you attach or capture a photo in the AI chat (photo word search), images are uploaded to our cloud storage to identify objects and generate vocabulary. Images are stored in your private folder and deleted when you delete your account.
Audio Recordings: Voice recordings are used for speech-to-text dictation (processed via Google Cloud Speech-to-Text). Audio is not retained after processing.
2.3 Usage Data
App Interactions: We track which lessons you complete, how you interact with features, your XP and level, achievements, daily streaks, and review patterns to personalize content and improve our algorithms.
2.4 Subscription Information
Purchase History: Your subscription status, plan type (Free/Pro), and transaction records are managed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat.
2.5 Support Correspondence
If you contact us at support@tayseer-ai.app, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data exclusively for educational purposes:
- Personalization: Tailoring lessons to your proficiency level and learning style
- Progress Tracking: Calculating XP, levels, streaks, and spaced repetition schedules
- AI Assistance: Generating chat answers, explanations, and practice content grounded in your personal dictionary
- App Improvement: Analyzing usage patterns to enhance features and fix issues
- Account Management: Authentication, subscription handling, and support
We do NOT: Sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across other apps and websites.
3.1 AI Data Processing
Tayseer AI uses Google AI services (Gemini via Vertex AI) to power the in-app AI assistant: conversational help, explanations, photo word search, and dictation. When you interact with AI features, the following data is sent to Google's servers for processing:
- Text messages you type in AI chat sessions
- Images you capture or upload in the AI chat
- Audio recordings for speech-to-text dictation
- Learning profile: your language preference, Arabic proficiency level, and learning goals — used to calibrate AI responses to your level
- Conversation context: up to two recent messages from the current session, so the AI can provide relevant follow-up responses
- Lesson context: when asking about a specific lesson, the relevant Arabic text and its translation are included
Google processes this data solely to generate a response and does not use it to train its models or for advertising. Your name, email, account ID, and subscription status are never sent to Google. For more details, see Google Vertex AI Data Governance.
4. Third-Party Services
We partner with trusted third-party services to operate Tayseer AI:
4.1 Clerk (Authentication)
Handles user sign-in via email, Apple, Google, and Microsoft OAuth. Clerk Privacy Policy
4.2 Supabase (Database)
Stores your learning data, vocabulary, and progress securely in the cloud. Supabase Privacy Policy
4.3 RevenueCat (Subscriptions)
Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
4.4 Google Cloud & Vertex AI
Powers the AI assistant (Gemini via Vertex AI), image recognition for photo word search, and speech-to-text dictation (Google Cloud Speech-to-Text). Data sent to Google is described in Section 3.1 above. Google Privacy Policy
4.5 Organizations (Teacher Plan)
If you join an organization (for example a class run by a teacher or school), the organization's administrators can see your display name, email, and learning progress within that organization, and organization members can see each other's display names and scores on the organization leaderboard. Content shared by an organization is visible only to its members.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Access to your personal data is restricted to authorized personnel and systems only.
However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of your data
- Correction: Update inaccurate information in your profile settings
- Deletion: Delete your account in the app or request deletion of your data
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Restriction & Objection: Restrict or object to specific processing
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw any consent at any time, without affecting prior processing
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde (DSB)

6.1 Legal Bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on these legal bases:
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): account, lessons, progress, AI assistant, subscriptions
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): service security, abuse prevention, improving the app
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): optional features you actively invoke, such as attaching photos or using voice dictation
7. Children's Privacy
Tayseer AI is rated 13+ and is intended for users aged 13 and older. In compliance with COPPA and GDPR, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. In countries where the minimum age of digital consent is higher (for example 14 in Austria), that higher age applies.
8. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.
How to Delete Your Account
- Open Tayseer AI
- Go to the You tab and open Settings
- Tap Account, then "Deactivate or delete account"
- Confirm your request
Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — manage subscriptions in your App Store settings.
What Gets Deleted
- Your profile and username
- Email address and authentication data
- Vocabulary cards and learning progress
- Lesson history and quiz results
- AI chat sessions and generated content
- Uploaded images (AI chat photos)
- Audio recordings (already deleted after processing)
- Subscription records (local; the App Store may retain purchase history independently)
What We Cannot Delete
- Purchase history held by the Apple App Store
- Anonymized, aggregated analytics that cannot identify you
Account deletion is self-service: for your security, only you — signed in to your account — can delete it, so we do not process deletion requests by email. No longer have the app installed? Sign in at app.tayseer-ai.app and follow the same steps (Settings → Account → "Deactivate or delete account"). Only if you have permanently lost access to your sign-in method, contact support@tayseer-ai.app and we will verify your identity and assist.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we and our processors rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
